VersionsVersions and history––

A version is a checkpoint of your whole design at one moment, with a small picture of it. Save one at the end of each lesson: together they show how your design developed, which is great evidence for your folio. If something goes wrong, you can go back to any version.

Undo only reaches back to when you opened the design. Versions stay until you delete them.

How to save a version#

  1. Click Versions in the top bar.
  2. Click + Save a version.
  3. Type a name that says what you did, such as End of lesson 3: base finished, and click Save (or press Enter).

Looking back#

The list shows the newest version first, with its picture, date, time and number of features. Saved marks the versions you saved, and Automatic marks the ones SchoolCAD saved for you.

ButtonWhat it does
RestoreGoes back to this version. Your design as it is now is saved as a version first, and Ctrl+Z takes you back.
Open copyOpens this version as a separate design, so you can look at it or carry on from it. Your design stays as it is.
DeleteRemoves this version.

Automatic versions#

When you open a design, SchoolCAD saves an automatic version called Opened with the day and time, unless there is already a version from the last 30 minutes. Before a restore, it saves one called Before restoring and the version's name. SchoolCAD keeps the six newest automatic versions and up to 40 versions that you saved.

If it does not work#

  • This browser is out of space for versions. Delete some designs or versions first. Delete versions you no longer need, or designs you have already saved as files.
  • The list is empty. Versions stay in the browser they were saved in. On another computer, open your saved file instead.
