Cut list (CSV)

Save a spreadsheet of every part in your design: how many, its size, material, standard board, mass and estimated cost.

  • Cut list (CSV)Export menu

The cut list is a table of every part in your design. It is saved as a CSV file, which opens in a spreadsheet program such as Excel or Google Sheets. It tells you how many of each part to cut, their length, width and thickness, and an estimate of their mass and cost. Use it to cut your parts in the workshop, or to cost your design for your folio.

How to use it#

  1. Name your parts, and give each one a material (right-click a part in the Parts list).
  2. Click Export, then Cut list (CSV). The file downloads straight away.
  3. Open it in a spreadsheet program.

What is in it#

ColumnWhat it shows
QtyHow many. Parts with the same material and size share one row.
PartThe names of the parts in that row.
MaterialThe part's material.
Length (mm), Width (mm), Thickness (mm)The part's size, longest side first.
StockFor Radiata Pine: the standard board to cut it from, such as 140 × 19 DAR pine. Rip from means saw it narrower first.
Mass (kg)How heavy the parts are, worked out from the material.
Cost (estimate, $)A classroom estimate of the price. The last row has the total.

Tips#

  • The size is the size of the box that the part fits in, measured along the X, Y and Z directions. A part that sits at an angle shows a bigger size than it really is.
  • Hidden parts are in the cut list too.
  • The same sizes show in the Parts list, and in the parts list on an engineering drawing.
  • To work out which boards and sheets to buy, use the cutting plan.

If it does not work#

  • The mass and cost are 0. The part has no material. Right-click it in the Parts list and choose one.
  • Stock says the part is not a standard board size. The pine part is not a standard thickness or width. The design Check lists the standard sizes.
  • The sizes look too big. The part is at an angle, or something sticks out of it. Check its size with Measure.
