Video (MP4)

Record a short video of your design turning round, building itself feature by feature, or both, for slides, a folio or a website.

  • Video (MP4)Export menu

The video export records your design as a short movie. It can turn the design all the way round (a turntable), show it being built one feature at a time, or do both. Use it in slides, a digital folio or a website.

How to use it#

  1. Turn the model to an angle you like, looking a little down on it. The video starts from the angle you are looking from (unless you are looking straight down), and SchoolCAD fits the whole model in for you.
  2. Click Export, then Video (MP4).
  3. Choose what to Show, and the Size, Length and Background.
  4. Click Record. A bar shows how far it has got.
  5. When it says Video saved, find the file in your downloads.

Options#

SizeHD 16:9 (1280 × 720 pixels), Square (1080 × 1080) or Full HD (1920 × 1080).
LengthHow long the turn takes: 5 s, 8 s or 12 s. Building takes just over half a second for each step.
BackgroundStudio (a soft white-to-grey background) or plain White.
Show the design name and "Made with SchoolCAD"Adds your design's name at the top and the SchoolCAD logo at the bottom.

Tips#

  • Give your features clear names, such as Cut finger hole (right-click a feature in the tree and choose Rename). The names show in a build video.
  • Sketches on their own are skipped in Build it up, because they do not change the parts yet.
  • The file is an MP4 video. If your browser cannot record MP4, it saves a WebM video instead. The dialog says which.
  • To watch the build without making a file, click ▶ Play at the top of the feature tree.

If it does not work#

  • This browser cannot record video. Try Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
  • Make a part first, then a video of it. There are no visible parts yet.
  • The video freezes or skips. It records in real time, so stay on the SchoolCAD tab until it says Video saved.
