Tab
Add a flat shape, drawn on a face of a sheet metal part, to that wall so it folds with it.

Tab adds a flat shape to a wall of a sheet metal part: a mounting ear, a tongue to fit a slot, a wider part of a flange. The tab becomes part of the wall, so it folds with it and shows in the flat pattern. It works like Tab in Onshape and Base Flange/Tab drawn on a face in SOLIDWORKS.
How to use it#
- Start a sketch on a face of the sheet metal wall (click the face, then Sketch).
- Draw a closed shape that touches the edge of the sheet or overlaps it. Click ✓ Finish sketch.
- Click Tab and choose the Sketch.
- Click ✓.
If it does not work#
- The tab does not touch the sheet: draw it so it overlaps the wall, or starts from its edge.
- The tab overlaps a bend: draw it on the flat of the wall, clear of the bends.
- The tab's sketch is not on a face of the part: sketch on the face of the wall the tab goes on.
